A Bit About Me

My photo
Along with my daily duties as founder and head writer of HumorMeOnline.com, in 2003, I took the Grand Prize in the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest (also known as the "It Was a Dark and Stormy Night" competition). I've also been a contributor to "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and the web's "The Late Show with David Letterman". I also occupy my time writing three blogs, "Blogged Down at the Moment", "Brit Word of the Day" and "Production Numbers"...and my off-time is spent contemplating in an "on again/off again" fashion...my feable attempts at writing any one of a dozen books. I would love to write professionally one day...and by that I mean "actually get a paycheck".

Day 13: Pleasure

Today's word is "Pleasure". I had a whole lot of ideas...most bad...and most requiring light...but, true to my "experiment" I've been doing...Ambien has to be involved in at least one portion of the contest. Most times both the photo and the write-up are Ambien-induced.

First, check out the other participants at Ziva's "30 Days of Photographs" non-contest...and then look for my photo and write-up below: MikeWJ, Nicky and Mike, Mo, Meleah, John, aka nonamedufus, Bryan, aka Unfinished Person, Malisa, Nora, LaughingMom, Tanya, Elizabeth A., 00dozo, Cheryl, Kristen, Katherine, and Ziva.

My interpretation of Day 12: Pleasure:

This is my phone. I have two other handsets...one of which doesn't work anymore. It probably doesn't work because I wore it out. You see, my pleasure is talking. I love to talk...on the phone is fine -- in person, even better. I'm not sure if I just like a captive audience...or I like hearing the sound of my own voice. I know the sound of my own voice is horrible...but I hear it differently, and, to me, it sounds quite pleasant.

So, I thought the handset would get my point across for today's theme...it was either this or a photo of my mouth...and, trust me, the handset is much more photogenic. ;)

Very clever. Do you actually have friends willing to take you calls at 2:13 am?

  2. AH! It works best if you have a friend whose true pleasure is listening! I'm not a phone person - they are too many mostly nuisance calls that I get.

  3. I used to be a phone person. Now I'd much rater text!

Very clever idea, Mariann. And great photo!

  4. I'm not a phone person either, and now I'm going to lock myself in a cupboard.

  5. You and Ziva ought to get together today. That would give me pleasure. Just sayin'.

  6. Huh, maybe I should have gone with a photo of my phone, too. :D

Then again, I don't really like talking. I enjoy listening more, figuring people out. I think I'd make a great captive audience for you. ;)

  7. Yeah, I don't think Ziva was doing a lot of talking when she took that photo, NoName.

As for me, I love to talk. Ask anybody who knows me. I never shut up. I probably talk in my sleep. I think of it as a personality flaw. But I listen pretty well, too.

Great way to illustrate your thoughts, Mariann.

  9. That is a GREAT photo and what you wrote makes it perfect. The date is awesome on the phone.

I would love to sit with you and talk!

  10. I have not thought of taking a photo and writing a post while under the influence of Ambien. I'm definitely going to try that before this whole thing is over. I have done some wild things under the influence though. I'm about to go take one now.

  11. I really like the fact I specifically talked about not taking a photo of my mouth -- and then Ziva posted a photo of her mouth. I mean, seriously, it was like we planned it...but we honestly did not. :)

Any of you are free to call me anytime - well, not during the time I'm actually "sleeping" but the other times...but I do talk a lot, so you have been warned.

Malisa - You should try the Ambien experiment - you would not believe the things you've written or done under Ambien...so this is like letting a little child out in my mind and letting it play with a camera and pen. :)
